The Pier D Expansion at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is its largest terminal development in 25 years, enhancing international gate capacity and passenger amenities. Designed by Kasian, the project includes a 12-gate expansion in two phases for Class V and VII widebody aircraft. Phase 1, completed in 2020, delivered four fixed bridge gates and four bus gates. Rooted in YVR’s Thematic Master Plan—BC Land, Sea, and Sky—the design features a rotunda with a garden, water feature, and hemlocks, reflecting BC’s beauty. Using advanced BIM tools, Kasian ensured seamless construction while maintaining YVR’s operational excellence and sustainability goals.
