Adam W. Sławiński

Architect SARP (Poland), LEED AP

Adam W. Sławiński is an accomplished architect and independent design consultant, known for his long tenure at Peter Busby Architect/Perkins&Will and his deep commitment to sustainable and progressive design. He graduated in 1969 from the Faculty of Architecture at the Wrocław University of Technology. Early in his career, he served as a teaching assistant to Professor B. Szmidt (1970–1978) and became a member of the Association of Polish Architects (SARP) in 1971. During this time, he was highly active in SARP’s Architectural Competitions Committee, frequently serving as a juror. Before immigrating to Canada in 1983, he worked as a project architect at the Bureau d’Architecture de Wilaya in Oran, Algeria (1981–1983). Joining Peter Busby Architect (later Perkins&Will) in Vancouver in 1987, Mr. Sławiński spent over 30 years with the firm, holding positions including designer, associate, and eventually Senior Associate. In this senior role, he was instrumental in the conception and development of numerous urban and architectural projects, demonstrating exceptional talent in translating conceptual ideas into design. His expertise covers concept design, view analyses, and massing studies for a diverse range of facilities, including residential, urban planning, civic, institutional, and public facilities. Adam Sławiński made significant contributions to key sustainable developments, such as the Dockside Green Development in Victoria, BC, which targeted LEED Platinum certification. He was also extensively involved in large-scale international sustainable urban developments, including the Zhengzhou International Community Project and the Lingang New Town Shuyuan International Community Master Plan. Furthermore, he played a key role in the firm’s innovative competition submission for the Dubai International Financial Center, which proposed an iconic tower integrated with sustainable strategies, notably the world's largest wind turbine. He retired in 2019 but remains active as an independent design consultant.
